Ghost Science
Devoted to serious ghost and extra-dimensional research
If it exists, it tells us something about our universe.
If it doesn't exist, it tells us something about us.
As discussed here, ghosts are defined as spirits of formerly living humans.
In documented ghost sightings, ghosts:
1. have voices that are heard by the living
2. produce other sounds associated with sightings
3. are able to move objects
4. penetrate material objects (however, the object may not have existed at the time of death)
5. affect temperature in a room
6. create or interrupt electromagnetic fields (plasmas?)
7. seem to have no concept of time, yet ghosts have warned the living of impending dangers. This implies a certain timelessness to their existence
8. display emotions; hate, anger, humor, lust
9. seem to have at least some memory of the past
10. conceive the world as it was at their death, even while visiting our world today
11. float through the air. (A lack of gravity in their existence?)
12. have personalities
13. are territorial
There were a number of reports from El Paso, Texas that took place in what used to be an old Spanish mission. The new owners converted it to a hotel. Wanting to preserve the ornate ceilings, but not the high heating bills, installed a 3-foot false floor instead of a false ceiling.
Guests reported waking in the middle of the night to see the image of a man's head at the foot of the bed. The image moved to the side of the bed, but guests could only see the man from the waist up. The man's waist was at floor level where it would be if he were walking on the original floor.
A documentary I saw interviewed the caretaker of an old castle in Great Britain. He said that on several occasions he saw a group of Roman soldiers on horseback gallop through the lower passages of the castle. However, he could only see the images from the horse's chest up. Over the centuries, the passage filled with dust and dirt, and the horses seem to be walking on the original soil from their time rather than today's surface.
There have been other similar stories that would seem to support the theory that ghosts are:
A. extra-dimensional
B. images from another time, somehow overlapping our own time
C. from a parallel universe
D. in limbo
E. somewhere we have yet to consider
This raises a question. Where do ghosts "live" when they are not here bugging us?
The word live was not casually used. For something to move, it must also move through and exist in time, yet people who claim contact with a ghost say that the ghost believe they are still in their time (when they died). The numbered items above are attributes of living beings. Anger and humor in particular are taken as traits of the living.
The theory that ghost are images of the past doesn't make sense if ghosts can affect material objects in our world. It would also seem logical that ghosts would not be able to preconceive the future (item 7 above).
If ghosts are from another dimension, how could exorcism remove ghosts? By closing a dimensional door? A spiritual door?
It is generally believed that ghosts are spirits that have not crossed over to the other side. This implies that there are three "places" involved.
1. where we are, three dimensional Earth
2. the "other side"
3. where ghosts live
In the classic exorcism of movies, the ghost is told to "go toward the light". If there is any reality to this then ghosts have at least a limited sense of all three "places". If ghost exist in our world, then are they also visible from the "other side"?
Another possibility: ghosts may exist not in another dimension, but in an existence we haven't considered or may not be able to comprehend.
We do not hear of people seeing ghost of cavemen. Does this mean ghosts exist for a finite length of time?
I am certain science will someday answer these questions and find a method of exploring the other dimensions, creating a whole new set of questions in the process. That will prove interesting indeed.
SUPERNATURAL?
If it exists, then it's natural.
If it doesn't exist, then who cares?
